Draft. Takes effect when backorders open.
A backorder reserves founders'-beta hardware. We save your card via Stripe; we do not charge it until your kit ships. Before charging, we email you the final price and the ship window. If the window slips, we tell you and you may cancel for nothing (per the FTC Mail Order Rule, we ship within the stated window or offer a refund, and since we charge at ship, "refund" usually just means we never charge you at all).
MeshCam hardware is going through FCC equipment authorization. Until that grant exists, this device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission and may not be sold or delivered. Delivery of any preordered kit is contingent on successful completion of FCC equipment authorization. If authorization is not obtained, we cancel your reservation and never charge your card.
Beta hardware for founding users: an assembled board plus a parts kit (camera module with 850 nm IR illuminator for night capture, antenna, PIR, solar panel and wiring, battery — a tested LiFePO4 cell in a pre-wired harness with temperature sensor — and pre-flashed firmware). Canadian orders ship without the battery cell (postal lithium rules; the harness is included and we recommend a vetted vendor). No enclosure: we publish the build guide before kits ship. It's a kit for people who like kits; if that's not you, wait for the finished product.
Firmware is actively developed and updates over the mesh. If a board arrives dead, we replace it. Open firmware and an open ingest API mean you can fix, modify, and self-host everything, and doing so never voids the promise above.
MeshCam offers an optional hosted cloud where your cameras' photos and detections land, so you can view and search them from anywhere. It is included for the first year with a pilot; after that it runs from $29/yr to $99/yr, every plan unlimited cameras. Billing is annual through Stripe, and you can cancel any time — we simply do not renew. Self-hosting the same software on your own server is free, forever, and your MeshCam nodes are first-class either way.
You own everything you capture. We store it only to run the service; we never sell it, mine it for advertising, or hand it to anyone but you. You can export all of it at any time — full-resolution images and their metadata, a complete takeout. Email hello@getmeshcam.com and we hand you your data. Close your account and we delete it.
The hosted cloud is an early service run on a best-effort basis. We do not promise a service level or guarantee uptime. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — each camera also writes full-resolution stills to a local SD card, independent of the cloud. If we ever wind the hosted service down, we give you reasonable notice and a window to export everything first, and we refund any unused prepaid time.
The hosted service and pilots are offered in the United States and Canada for now.
